When applying to med school, does being from a certain background impact what med schools look at in terms of your GPA and MCAT score

Most schools are very much interested in diversity for many valid reasons. Students coming from an underserved ethnic population are more likely to provide medical services to that populations. Patients feel more comfortable with a provider from their ethnic community.

It's helpful to make sure you describe your background in your personal statement and be prepared to talk about it in your interview. If you do honestly intend to serve people from your community, be prepared to talk about that as well.
